Brandy Yanchyk is a Canadian Journalist currently living in Edmonton, Alberta.
Brandy freelances primarily for the BBC from Canada. She is a videographer and films and edits her own features which have appeared on BBC World TV. From 2004 to 2008 she worked full time as a Broadcast Journalist in London, England at BBC World TV and the BBC World Service. In December 2008 her 22 minute documentary 'Desert to Ice' aired on the BBC World TV's documentary programme 'Our World'. In 'Desert to Ice' Brandy tracked the life of 8 Palestinian refugees and their families who were resettled in Iceland after living in refugee camps in Iraq.
While living in England she also reported for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation filling in for their European Correspondent. Reporting highlights include: The 2007 Central England floods, the poisoning of Russian Spy Alexander Litvinenko, Transatlantic aircraft terror plot in 2006, the London bombings of 2005, the tragedy of HMCS Chicoutimi, the Royal wedding of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, the ban on fox hunting and the 2005 Tour de France.
Before moving to London Brandy was a CBC Radio Reporter in Toronto.
