Pope Benedict meets the Anglican leader Archbishop Rowan Williams on Saturday for talks likely to focus on the recent Vatican move making it easier for disaffected Anglicans to convert to Catholicism.
The Vatican said its move, announced last month, came in response to many requests over the years from Anglicans disillusioned with the progressive turn of the Anglican Communion, especially on issues like female priesthood and gay bishops. However, many Anglicans see the move as an attempt by the Catholic church to poach believers and take advantage of the deep divisions within the Communion.
